The Wadi Hanifa (or Hanifa valley) is the longest and most important valley near Riyadh, a natural water drainage path for a place of over 4,000 rectangular kilometers and a completely unique geographical feature on this dry location. Until these days, many segments of the valley had been exploited in an aggressive and environmentally detrimental way. In an effort to redress the stability between the assets of the wadi and the human beings residing round it, the Arriyadh Development Authority has implemented a comprehensive development strategy, a program of works that ambitions to repair and broaden Wadi Hanifa as an environmental, recreational and tourism aid. Project works to this point have protected the introduction of landscaping, conservation of the natural environment, development of recreational regions for the people of Riyadh, enhancement of agricultural land in the valley, and the creation of an environmentally sensitive wastewater treatment facility that gives extra water assets for the agricultural and urban population of the place. Under the course of the Arriyadh Development Authority, the 2001 Wadi Hanifah Comprehensive Development Plan set up a method for the environmental restoration of the wadi hall, which became to be accompanied via the construction of the sector’s biggest wastewater bioremediation facility.
