It was once used by the villagers for recreational activities and for swimming. Today, this lake is subjected to profound contamination with an enormous bit of Bangalore's sewage, from two of the valleys to be specific Challaghtatta and Koramangala. It receives water/sewage from Doddbegur channel, Chellaghatta Valley, Ulsoor Lake, Hulimavu, Tavarrrakere, Madivaala Lake, Bellandur Lake and overflows into Varthur Lake. Nonetheless, restoration work is being carried on here for the preservation of this enormous water body and the lake is conserved in acceptable condition.
