The Palazzo Fortuny is a palazzo gothic of Venice placed in the district of San Marco. It takes its name from the remaining owner, the artist Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo, and is home to the homonymous museum. Today the museum is part of the Venice Civic Museums Foundation. Previously, the building turned into referred to as Palazzo Pesaro degli Orfei. The palace became for a time the seat of the Orfei Philharmonic Academy, subsequently the name Palazzo Pesaro degli Orfei, with which it became later, acknowledged. In 1975, the palace opened as a museum and cultural venue dedicated to visual arts; but, it nevertheless keeps Fortuny’s authentic workshop positioned on the primary floor, in addition to the artist’s extraordinary library filled with uncommon objects, pieces of fixtures, and art books. The museum includes Fortuny’s eclectic series of exceptional and applied art, together with a big variety of artistic endeavors – mostly paintings, and drawings – by means of the artist himself and by using his father Marià, a well-reputed Romantic-fashion painter. Other gadgets on display on the primary floor of the palace encompass material printing plates, clothes, and fashion accessories produced by the Fortuny factory from the early twentieth century onwards.
