Over the last few years, a lot of those store houses had been converted into private houses or small accommodations. An exception is i46, owned by Roengkiat “Nong” Hongyok, who lives along with his wife, his toddler and his dad and mom, and has converted his circle of relative’s home right into a café and data centre. Nong is a fourth-era Phuketian and descendant of one of the island’s most influential families. His excellent-first-rate-grandfather turned into a Chinese monk who got here from Fujian in China to preach in Phang-Nga, the province immediately north of Phuket, in which he married a Thai girl. One of his kids, Nong’s wonderful-grandfather, moved to Phuket where, over many years, he constructed up a successful tin mining enterprise. His wealth became such that at one factor he's said to have owned more than eighty homes on and round Thalang Road.
