Jeremy Monteiro: The Art of Trio

2021-09-30

Fresh from his trio album, Live at No Black Tie—where he and album bandmates Jay Anderson and Lewis Nash spent 10 weeks on the Top 50 of america JazzWeek charts—Jeremy Monteiro affords his subsequent show, The Art of Trio. While Jeremy loves all of the unique configurations he plays in, from solo to complete orchestra, his favorite layout is the jazz piano trio. From swinging requirements to pulsating sambas; from funky down-domestic blues to originals that usually resonate with his target market, Jeremy brings you on an lively kaleidoscopic journey together with his Singaporean trio of Ben Poh on bass and Soh Wen Ming on drums. Jeremy has played on the ranges of the Montreux, London and Mt Fuji jazz festivals to call some; however he is never happier than while he performs for the Singapore audience. In 1988, he positioned Singapore jazz on the map when he became the first Southeast Asian to play and lead a band of installed worldwide jazz musicians on the principle level of the Montreux Jazz Festival, in a set named Monteiro, Young & Holt and Friends.
