The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) was the biggest new art museum the country, when it opened in 1965 had found in a quarter century. The museum rose on the site of the old adobe and tree-concealed home farm that the Hancock family gave to the province for a park in 1916. Three unique LACMA structures confronted onto Wilshire from a raised court, with wellsprings and a reflecting pool along the street.
