The Madras War Cemetery, directly in the heart of the city is famous for the charm also horrors of the war our ancestors have fought to make this world a more tranquil spot. In short, it houses the last remains of around 855 martyrs who set out their precious lives at the battlefronts in the devastating Second World War and also a Memorial stone for 1000 individuals who died on battling in the Great War before that. In 1952, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and the Indian Government together established this graveyard to recognize those who passed on to save our lives.
