You must have seen images of Singapore’s national symbol, the mythical Merlion with the top head of a lion and the fish body. Rambling water from its mouth, the Merlion sculpture stands tall at 8.6 meters and gauges 70 tons. This symbol is an unquestionable requirement for sightseers visiting Singapore, like other huge tourist spots the world over. Its also know as, Singapura, or 'lion city' in Malay. Worked by neighborhood specialist Lim Nang Seng, it was revealed on 15 September 1972 by then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew at the mouth of the Singapore River, to invite all guests to Singapore.
