One of the remarkable sub-tropical gardens of the South-West at the Helford Estuary! Glendurgan is a National Trust belonging, close to the village of Mawnan Smith and no longer a ways from the lovely reaches of the Helford River. The beautifully designed garden is about in a valley, which runs all the way down to the pretty fishing village of Durgan. Perhaps the fine-recognized feature of this garden is the laurel maze, which became firstly planted in 1833 and become modelled on the maze of Sydney Gardens in Bath. The maze has been absolutely pruned and renovated over the past thirty years, and a Victorian fashion summer time house has been reconstructed at the centre. You can relax at one of the picnic tables near the entrance building or in a quiet shady spot in the lawn, or if the climate’s to your facet why no longer take a picnic all the way down to Durgan beach on the foot of the lawn?
