The Punggol Waterway Park is a paradise for bird-watchers and nature lovers. One can hope to see birds such as the Black-naped Oriole, Long-followed Shrike, Pink-necked Green Pigeon, Yellow-vented Bulbul, Rose-ringed Parakeet, White-throated Kingfisher, and Collared Kingfisher at the Park. Fitness enthusiasts can run or cycle on the all around kept up tracks along the promenade at the two sides of the stream while appreciating the surrounding view. Then again, sit on the numerous benches put around the park and appreciate the breeze as you listen to the soothing sounds of running, streaming, splashing and cascading water. Punggol Waterway Park is one of four parks connected by the North Eastern Riverine Loop of the Park Connector Network. The Waterway runs through the Punggol Waterway Park, and serves to increase park and water facing for the housing estate while giving a green respite to residents. The word 'Punggol' in Malay implies 'flinging sticks at the branches of natural product trees to bring them to the cold earth', an example to the space's history as an organic product developing district or as a rendezvous for wholesale organic fruit agents.
