Red Dot Design Museum

While its name may persuade that this institution is local in beginning (after all, Singapore is, nicknamed the ‘Little Red Dot’), first held in Germany the Red Dot Museum springs from the Red Dot Design Award. Since 1955, the first Red Dot Design Museum has been a global showcase of stellar works of products and industrial design, with grant winners being showcased on its premises in Essen. The second Red Dot Design Museum was underlying Singapore in 2005, and is the first and just of its sort in Asia. Besides being a repository of top notch design, Red Dot Design Museum is the ideal destination for design lovers hoping to bring home a token. Its museum shop is a stash of privately designed wares, from the Blackout Watch—an exquisite, minimalistic watch—to the LUMIO light, which bears resemblance to a hard-cover book. To see how these wonderful forms work in a genuine setting, snatch an espresso at the museum's Café Bar, which is it enlivened with Red Dot-granted furnishings and design gear. Run by the museum, the bistro serves up neighborhood espresso, specialty lager and dishes focused on curated cuts of European smoked meats.
