Stroll along this stupendous road, which extends from Trafalgar Square to Buckingham Palace and is habitually used for royal processions. The tree-lined processional Mall is frequently used by heads of state and other prestigious visitors when visiting the sovereign at the castle. Stroll down this famous 0.6-mile (1-kilometer) street and note the significant historical attractions en route. Start in Trafalgar Square at the south finish of the Mall, opposite the castle. Worked somewhere in the range of 1829 and 1841 to pay tribute to Lord Nelson's triumph at the Battle of Trafalgar, this historic square is a mainstream spot for celebrations, parades and demonstrations. As you stroll through the huge Admiralty Arch, you'll see St. James' Park on your left side. Stroll along the extension to see picturesque views of Buckingham Palace. Try not to miss the every day mid-evening time taking care of the park's pelicans. In case you're fortunate, you may see bands and troops advancing along the Mall from St. James' Palace for the Changing the Guard at the castle. The Mall is especially enthusiastic during the yearly Trooping the Color function, a festival of the sovereign's birthday, which takes place in June.
